For the most accurate representation of the intended 2.39:1 crop, set the edit sequence resolution to 4096x1716.
The footage will then appear in the correct aspect ratio without any additional cropping.

For maximum flexibility when creating deliverables in multiple aspect ratios, use a 4096x2160 DCI 4K sequence, matching the native resolution of the transcodes. You can then apply custom framing guides or mattes for the 4096×1716 2.39:1 and 9:16 versions.
